TRAINING OPTIONS

Eurostep offers a variety of Training options to fit the needs of every athlete, no matter what their age, gender, or skill level is.

3x3 LEAGUE

The league is designed to give kids access to basketball training in a controlled environment. The program was created to strike a balance between working on skills and kids just playing hoops. Because the games are half-court and there are only 3 athletes on the court per team, it will give each athlete more touches. More touches translate to quicker development and more fun as the players will have more opportunities to make decisions both on and off the ball.

Each session is 90 minutes long and will be split up into two parts. For the first 40 minutes, all of the players in the same division will participate together in skill development drills. The workout plans were constructed by coach Boris Bakovic and are carried out by a coaching staff that has been personally trained by him. There are enough coaches to ensure that the groups are no bigger than 10 kids per coach. After the development session, the athletes will be split up into their respective teams and play 3 on 3 half-court games. Our goal is to have designated teams for the entire season so that we can have an actual league with playoffs.

The league will be run at our facility at 55 Horner Ave in Etobicoke. The boys will be on Saturdays and the girls will run on Sundays.

Eurostep runs two leagues during the school year:

Fall - Mid-September to March Break

Spring - After March Break to the end of the school year

RISING STARS

Young athletes need to develop a love for the game first before they start training seriously and improving their skill set. For this program, the coaching staff has to answer one question first “is this drill going to be fun for the kids”? If the answer is no, then we will not incorporate it into the training session. While we put having fun first, the program is specifically designed to help the players start developing the fundamental skills and movements of basketball.

There are four main objectives for the program, and none of them include the word winning. At Eurostep, we believe that winning is a by-product of practice and preparation and therefore will occur if the below objectives are met.

  1. Developing kinetic intelligence - At the most fundamental level, the athlete needs to have a good base of motor skills and coordination in order to be able to learn new skills and movements. Without developing these skills, as they get older, it will take them longer to learn new skills.

  2. Learning basketball-specific skills - Learning how to perform the fundamental basketball skills.

  3. Understanding basic concepts - The goal is to help the young athletes understand the core ideas of basketball and working within a team.

  4. Basketball rules - As the players develop some skills, we will start teaching them the rules of the game.

Each workout will have an individual skills portion and then some teamwork-type of drills. The goal is to first give kids the tools they need in order to be able to execute the teamwork drills. The sessions are timed to be earlier in the evenings to make sure that the athletes can get to bed on time and make sure that they are not over tired while at training or afterward. CAMPS

Our camps are a way for athletes to get elite-level training and a high volume of repetitions while they are off school. The camp philosophy is that players should have fun while working hard and pushing themselves. Players are only going to work hard if they are motivated and excited to do so. Therefore, our camp training is specifically designed to take into account the longer daily training periods and yearly training cycles. Each camp is designed to push the players to his/her limit in a fun, challenging, and creative way.

We run:

  • Summer Camps (9 weeks)
  • March Break Camp
  • Winter Camp (both before and after the new year)

Our day camp accepts both boys and girls between grades 1 - 8 and we welcome all skill levels. Athletes are grouped with kids of a similar skill level and experience in order to make sure that each athlete gets the most out of every drill.

PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE WORKOUTS

These training sessions are designed to deconstruct a player’s game down to the microscopic level in order to achieve perfection (or as close to it as possible) for a specific skill.

Attention is paid to the smallest details in order to help a player advance their level from good to great at a particular facet of the game. Isolating a certain skill also allows the athlete to get a ton of repetitions while under constant supervision and feedback from the coach.

SCHOOL PROGRAMS

LUNCHTIME WORKOUTS - For this program, a Eurostep coach will come to the school and conduct a workout during lunch, meaning that the athletes can get in extra training without missing any classes or leaving the school premises. This session is designed to get kids excited about basketball and help them develop a passion for the game.

Eurostep has to first come to an agreement with the admin staff at the school before this program can get started. If you are interested in having a Eurostep lunchtime program at your child(s) school, please reach out and we will do our best to accommodate

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM  -Our after-school program is designed with convenience in mind. Eurostep will drive to the school in our fully insured Mercedes Sprinter van and pick up the kids from the school and drive them our training facility at 55 Horner Ave. The parents will be able to pick up their kids from the training facility anytime as we have a lobby area where kids can wait after the training in done.
